Couples therapy is different from individual therapy in that the relationship is the focus of the therapy instead of one individual's problems. In couples therapy, I help each person identify the problems in the relationship and identify what changes are necessary in order to feel more satisfied as a couple. The goals of couples therapy depend on what the specific conflicts are that bring the couple into treatment, but can include brief solution focused goals as well as longer term exploration into intimacy and attachment issues. The process of couples therapy may include some individual focus, mediation, and/or education. I work with couples for marital or relationship counseling to address the following areas of difficulty:
~ Conflict resolution ~ Healthy communication ~ Intimacy issues ~ Parenting concerns ~ Separation and divorce ~ Affairs
